OUR STAFF:

Erica Smith, Certified Medical Assistant
Muna Fadalla, Certified Medical Assistant
James Wigfield, billing/office manager

OUR PHYSICIAN:

She is a board certified internist practicing in the Northern Virginia area since 1990. Born in Michigan, she graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BA double majoring in Biochemistry and Economics and from Cornell University Medical College with an MD. She completed her Internal Medicine residency in a Cornell training program in New York. She is particularly interested in cardiovascular medicine, diabetes care, and women's health issues.

Dr. Eapen has been awarded 3 year recognitions since May 2006 by the American Diabetes Association/National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes recognition program. As well, in January 2008, she received 3 year recognitions by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association/NCQA Heart-Stroke Prevention program. She has been selected by her peers to be included in the 'Best Doctors in America' from 2001 to 2004, and from 2006 to the present and has been a Washingtonian magazine "Top Doctors" since 2005.

Dr. Eapen is actively involved in patient and physician advocacy and has been a board member of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia (www.msnva.org) and a member of the Governor’s Council of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Physicians (www.acponline.org). She has been dedicated to long-term service and commitment to caring for low-income, uninsured patients in her community. She had been a long-time volunteer at the former Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic (now Healthworks of Northern Virginia) providing free health care to the uninsured poor in the Northern Virginia area and was instrumental in starting its adult clinic. More recently, she has been managing Project Access of Northern Virginia, a nonprofit organization that helps provide specialty health care to the lower income, uninsured. Her dedication to this cause has been recognized and she has received the Medical Society of Northern Virginia Foundation’s Volunteer Service Award and the Molina Healthcare of Virginia’s Community Champions Award in 2014 and the Medical Society of Virginia’s "Service to the Uninsured and Underserved" Salute to Service Award in 2015.

Lastly, as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University medical schools, Dr. Eapen actively participates in medical education and feels that it is an important service and obligation for the betterment of the profession of medicine. Our office is actively involved in the teaching programs of local medical school programs. We are very grateful to all of our patients who have over the years assisted us in this effort. Without exception, the medical and other students who have spent time doing primary care ambulatory clerkships and related mentoring programs have all had very enriching experiences at Quality Internal Medicine. It is only through our patients’ willingness and enthusiasm to participate in the mentoring and education of medical and other students that we have been identified as a “Center for Excellence” in teaching and led to Dr. Eapen receiving the 2015 American College of Physician’s Virginia Chapter Community Teaching Award.

Dr. Eapen is currently on staff at Columbia-HCA Reston Hospital Center.
